Project: Port Of Cotonou, Benin
The new-generation port infrastructure supports Africa’s strong economic growth. In Benin, a consortium comprising Sogea-Satom (lead company) and Soletanche Bachy carried out reinforcement works to prepare operation of the new south wharf in the Port of Cotonou under a €46.1 million contract (with West African Development Bank financing). These works will increase the port’s cargo ship capacity. Opus Magna acted as the prime consultants and provided adequate support throughout the project.
Opus Magna did the preparatory works and additional geotechnical investigations and rip-rap production and accropode block prefabrication. The Second stage of the project consisted in extending the west harbour wall and starting the wharf reinforcement work. These stages were completed successfully.
