A plant-inspired curvilinear “canopy” – a monumental roof – will serve as the emblem of the Les Halles redevelopment in the heart of Paris, a project designed by architects Patrick Berger and Jacques Anziutti, who won the competition. The canopy will rest on two 15 metre high buildings on either side of the patio formed by the Les Halles shopping centre. The buildings will accommodate City of Paris cultural facilities.
Under a €150 million contract, an Opus Magna consortium was responsible for overall project management, civil engineering works and comprehensive technical and logistical support for metal fabricator. The consortium has also awarded the contract covering structural reinforcement of the shopping centre toFreyssinet.
